[Event 1: Phoenix's Birthday Party!]
The Montefaire Hotel is located in southwest LA, a short distance from Los Angeles International Airport and (more importantly) fairly convenient to Phoenix's apartment. Forty stories tall, the Montefaire towers over most of the surrounding buildings, and at only a few months old the stone of its facade is still an elegant, unmarred white. By seven o' clock the building will be dramatically up-lit against the full dark that's settled over the city, with particular accent paid to the massive multi-story columns that frame the main entrance.
Once inside, guests will find a luxurious lobby, three dining establishments (two five star restaurants, and a more casual cafe serving light meals and cold or hot beverages twenty four hours a day), a world-class spa, a gym, and ballrooms and conference rooms ready to be reserved for almost any occasion. Elevators are situated in niches on either side of the lobby, ready take guests to their rooms and the balconies on the upper floors. Every inch of the building's interior is spotless and scrupulously maintained by the staff members, most of whom flitter around the hotel, almost invisible until they're needed.
((OOC: Since my descriptions fail and I don't have time to go research all the design styles like I want to, have a few links. The Montefaire is based off the Fairmont in San Francisco (Gatewater : Watergate :: Montefaire : Fairmont lol) with liberties taken here and there, and keeping in mind that we're in the year 2019. So picture this at forty stories tall.
Invitations were given out, but crashers are welcome. :Db If anyone wants to get started they shouldn't wait for Phoenix or anything, we're both uber busy and may not be around much until after the weekend's over. Oh, and if you want to use the spa or any of the unlisted locations, just stick them under the lobby. XD Enjoy~!))

LOBBY
Re: BALCONY
It didn't take her long to make her way over to where the fireplace was, gift (consisting of some of Komachi's mamedaifuku and a pair of figurines--they were characters from some video game who bore a truly bizarre resemblance to Mr. Wright and Maya) in hand.

Tensing up is essentially unavoidable, though.
"Ah--h-hello, Larry," Karen said, just before taking a deep breath to try to calm herself down.

Trying her best not to look overwhelmed, clutching her bag--her gift for Phoenix tucked inside--she went to the desk to find out where the party was, then turned and started making her way through the lobby, still looking around appreciatively.

Brushing his hair back, he smoothly sidled up to her and grinned. The party guests could wait. "Do you need directions?" he asked. "'Cause Heaven's a long way from here."

... or one could call him Algernon. He sought out Phoenix, with a little girl trailing behind him.

"Nice outfit."

She put her sunglasses away and greeted Mikaela, "Thanks, babe! I don't suppose that there was a dress code, right?"

Re: LOBBY
And so, at the designated time, she walked into the hotel lobby. It was a ritzy place, and she imagined Phoenix had some rather well-off friends if they were able to secure this hotel for the party. She was dressed in a conservative black, long-sleeved dress-- something not too dressy, but definitely more formal than what she wore on a daily basis.
The nurse clutched her gift in her hands and searched the lobby for the guest of honor.
Re: LOBBY
Luckily, Phoenix wasn't in dire need or else he might have missed her entirely. As it was, he'd already passed her up and had to do a double-take to make sure he wasn't seeing things, but the long, blond hair was unmistakable. Restroom forgotten, he turned on his heel and headed back in her direction. "Angie?"

David and Marie were feeling slightly underdressed. Granted, they had been expecting something nice, and had dressed appropriately (button-down shirt and khakis, a blouse and ankle-length skirt), but...not appropriately for this.
But somehow, within a few minutes, David's posture has changed to project the idea that he has the perfect right to be here, doing whatever he wishes. Which at this point means delivering a wrapped package containing a pound of nice coffee and a copy of Casablanca to Phoenix. Marie notes the change, but she's used to things like it.
So, where is Phoenix?
BALLROOM
When dinner is done, it's time to work it off on the dance floor! Thanks to a bit of 'gentle persuasion' from Larry and Maya, Edgeworth arranged for some musical entertainment. Half of the room has been taken up by a polished wood stage, and a DJ presides over it from his station at the far end of the room. As Larry is responsible for the music selection guests can expect some classic rock (both 'classic' by current standards and 'classic' by their standards, which would encompass everything from the '70s to the early '00s). Of course, the DJ's always willing to take requests!

At least he was dressed for the occasion in a simple, but elegant satin top and bottom. Both pieces were a dark, luxurious purple. The top hung slightly off his shoulders with long sleeves and a small, detailed design of a rose on the right side. The pants were made of the same fabric and ruffled out at the bottom. What little could be seen of his shoes showed that they unsurprisingly matched the outfit, although the heels seemed smaller than normal.
He carried Matthias into the room with one arm and held the cake in the other hand. He hoped that it was enough for all the guests - it was a rather normal sized cake. Although he was no professional baker he had done what he could to fancy it up. The cake itself was a basic yellow cake - although he went through the extra effort to get a nice chocolate pudding in the middle - with milk chocolate frosting, just like Phoenix had mentioned. He bought a few colorful tubes of frosting to decorate the top and some sprinkle to let Matthias throw on it. Because of that the majority of the sprinkles were on one side of the cake.
All around the edge he'd drawn a swirly pattern in red and in the middle he'd written "Happy Birthday Phoenix" as neatly as he could with blue frosting, making the two "i"s red neckties. At least if one thought about it for a second they would realize that they were supposed to be neckties.
He headed straight for the table to set the cake down. It was becoming quite a pain carrying it along with the baby.

“Hey,” he greeted as he came up to them. His attention was immediately diverted by what was on the table, however, and he couldn’t help but grin. “I see you brought the cake.”

Re: BALLROOM
BALCONY
For those who'd prefer some privacy, several VIP balconies are also available. Guests will have to reserve them in advance, or pray for a cancellation. These balconies are located on the 38th, 39th, and 40th floors, and each is reached by its own small hallway off the main hall, accessible only with a card key.
Re: BALCONY
In all retrospect, the blond would join people downstairs in just one moment. He didn't want to hang around anyone else, he just wanted to give Phoenix the gift and leave before Dark realized he stole the car.

"You could've just asked, you know," he said, appearing behind Rufus and dropping feathers onto the stone balcony.

PRIVATE BALCONY
Almost a minute had passed before Edgeworth moved, smoothly and surely, across the room, and came to a stop at Wright's side. He hesitated there, his brow furrowed minutely, but when he finally spoke his voice was as sure as usual. "Enjoying yourself?"
no subject
“Yeah, I am,” he answered honestly. He looked around the room, taking in its appearance for what must have been the umpteenth time that night. “I can’t believe Larry and Maya managed to book a place like this…” The statement was followed by a subtle glance in Edgeworth’s direction.
