41: Double standards [Backdated]

A quiz, of sorts.

You are a highway patrol officer. On a sparsely occupied highway you see two vehicles exceeding the speed limit: a red sports car doing about 90mph, and a truck going at about 100mph.

Which car do you pull over?

It's bright red. It's the most immediately noticeable, and therefore one I'm going to be more likely to be able to catch and keep an eye on if they try to get away.

[identity profile] know-sacrifice.livejournal.com 2008-04-30 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
The truck, probably.

[identity profile] know-sacrifice.livejournal.com 2008-05-01 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
'Cause it's going faster.

Plus, guys in sports cars speed all the time. It's, like, normal--it's probably just another asshole in an expensive car. If a truck's going that fast, it's suspicious.

Whichever one I could catch first. They're both breaking the law.
attorneyatlol: (Hmm...)

[personal profile] attorneyatlol 2008-05-01 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
I'm no driver, but I don't see how much of a difference ten miles makes when you're going that fast. They're both dangerously reckless.

Uncle Dark wasn’t speeding again, was he?

[identity profile] shinra-pwnsjoo.livejournal.com 2008-05-01 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah! Phantom Thief Dark is my Uncle! He owns a red sports car.

A bright red sports car attracts more attention, so they would go after that one.

Red is bright. People look at it.

The truck? It's going faster and it's bigger, so it'll do more damage if there's a crash. Then again, at that speed both of them would kill someone pretty easy.

[identity profile] drcuddles.livejournal.com 2008-05-01 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, medical or legal standards?

[identity profile] drcuddles.livejournal.com 2008-05-01 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Well, won’t the truck overturn once it reaches a certain speed? Indicatively, the sports car will be the one that’s pulled over because of the fact it’s a sports car. Even though the truck can cause more damage and injury.

I... don't really know, I'm afraid. I know very little about cars...

That's easy! Y-you'd have to stop the one that's going faster first, r-right?

The one that's going faster, of course. Any particular reason?
