2: Alternate reality
Sunday, November 4th, 2007 09:02 pmTonight, I had a disturbing conversation over at that strange community. Many of the members make claims of being from alternate worlds or realities. The possibilities, if true, would be staggering, and there is some basis in current scientific thinking that would allow for such theories. This conversation brought up a claim that puts a sinister spin on it all.
The repercussions of this, if it's somehow true...I can't begin to comprehend the why and how. I refuse to believe anyone in such a world would have any controlling influence on my life, but having my decisions and experiences subject to scrutiny, exploited for entertainment...
It's a decidely uncomfortable thought.
The worst part is that some part of me wants to know. There's some morbid curiousity that would be served by actively looking for this content, but I am absolutely certain I'd be horrified by the majority of it.
More and more I find myself giving credence to the possibility of these other worlds. I've been invited by
maraihi to visit the zoo on one of them, so perhaps I'll have my answer soon. An answer that will merely lead to more questions, but it would be a start.
