74: Distraction

It's been a long time since I've used this journal for what is ostensibly its intended purpose. Now I find myself with free time and a need to fill it. So great is this need, in fact, that I've come here, opening myself up to what is very likely to be a flood of unhelpful suggestions in the hopes that at least one useful one will surface.

Recommend something to me--a book, a film, a serial work, a piece of art, a score. What are your favorites? Why do you hold them in such high regard?

Obviously not all of these works will be native to my world. Providing links to content shared online would be especially helpful.

My friend's an author. I'm not sure if we're on the same or similar worlds, but if you're interested in that sort of thing, I have a magazine somewhere around here with an essay of his about our hometown. He's poetic without going aureate.

I'll scan it in, then. I'm from an Earth that has Japan. Even if you've heard of the country, though, I doubt you've heard of Sotoba.

I take it you're from an Earth, too. Where from?

The United States. Los Angeles, California to be exact. We do have our own Japan, but I'm afraid I've never visited. Never heard of your town, either, but if your friend is as talented as you say I may soon know all there is to know about it.
