[RL 52: There's no way this could end badly; Edgeworth, the Corinthian]
((OOC: Backdated to the morning of Thursday, November 18th, first day of the grab bag virus.))
His sleep had been fitful that night. It had been fitful every night since Halloween, but those other nights hadn't ended with him tossing and turning in bed only to encounter a firm, unyielding surface. Edgeworth grunted in his sleep and pulled back his arm, weakly rubbing the tender spot where he'd made contact, and blinked blearily into the darkness.

"....come on." The smile he gave Edgeworth as he pulled him away from the counter was a touch triumphant. "I'll help you with breakfast."

The smile, so like other smiles he'd seen on those lips before, turned his stomach. He finally dropped his hand to his side and straightened his back, narrowing his eyes at the nightmare before stalking off across the kitchen. If the Corinthian wasn't quick to follow, he'd be getting an angry tug on the rope.
"You know you're going to regret all of this once it's over," he said coldly as he opened the fridge and began to rummage through it.

"But like you said. Until then we can make a weekend out of it."

As he turned and made a terse beeline for the counter, Edgeworth refused to meet the Corinthian's eyes.

"We'll work something out. You might even enjoy it."

"Then what do you want to do? You are kind of stuck with me for a while."

Eventually he opened them again to give the nightmare a halfhearted, sidelong glare. "What I want to do was already vetoed."

This wasn't right. Yes, Edgeworth usually tried to get a little work done whenever they became stuck like this, but asking him to skip a day or two didn't seem so unreasonable. And he had never been so cold and so intent on avoiding him before....
He was going to have to fix that. Somehow.

"I'm well aware of how astonishing it is that you people manage to put up with me, thank you," he said coolly then turned his attention back to his tea preparation.

His fingers drummed impatiently on the counter, but after a moment he managed to curb that, too. "You should hurry with that, maybe we could find something good on TV."

It was a virus. At this point, his priority was getting through it and back to what passed for normalcy in his life. He had to admit, a relatively...neutral activity like watching television seemed one of the safest ways to do that.
Suppressing a sigh, he turned back to the tea kettle just as it began to whistle. "I'm sure there will be a boring drama or two on the premium channels."

"I'm afraid I'm not in the mood to laugh," he said with only a touch of irony. "Or to be 'thrilled,' for that matter. But I'm sure we'll find something I can live with." With the tea now steeping and the egg timer set, he began to prepare a tray to take into the living room.

"Relax. We'll find something fun."
