[RL 26: In Nightmares; Corinthian, Edgeworth]
The routine was one that had been honed over years of holidays. Through trial and error, a bit of what little luck he seemed to possess, and his own baseless, probably foolish superstitions, Edgeworth had developed several methods to ease his way through the season. None of them were particularly effective--most had to be used in conjunction with each other, and success was never a guarantee--but as difficult as the nights were, they could always be more difficult without them.
That possibility alone was enough to enforce his subconscious (and, sometimes, conscious) habits, and this year life had taken a few uncharacteristically gracious steps to make it simpler to maintain them. The annual swell in property crime had reached a new peak; busy days at the office became busy nights at the office, with only an occasional interruption by a wild-eyed and breathless co-worker to break his quick, comfortable working pace. Tea, which was normally a close friend, became his crutch, and when the Gatewater ceased deliveries for the evening, his own stash of Darjeeling and Earl Grey was always available. Late drives were followed by late dinners accompanied by late glasses of wine. When Sigi lead him on their evening stroll, the brisk, barely-winter air served to brace him for several more hours of the work he carried home with him.
When Edgeworth buried himself in his sheets and forced himself to lose focus by listening to the quiet breathing drifting up from his bedside, he was never quite able to quash the (probably vain) hope that tonight, the darkness he fell into would hold only darkness.
((OOC: Sorry I'm so late, Cori. ;o; You can start with whatever scene you want to!))

It was time.
The court room seemed far busier than normal today. The air was filled with the low buzz of conversation, people talking with each other as they milled about and found their seats, though the words all seemed to run together in a completely indecipherable mess. It seemed like a perfectly normal and even routine scene, yet something about the people themselves seemed....off. They crowded the room, but it was as though you couldn't really see them; the features of every person were bland and unremarkable, and entirely unmemorable, and once you looked away the mind just seemed to forget about them completely. Except for a few highly familiar people sitting right in front of the stands....
There was a small cough from his right, the sort used merely to grab ones attention. A woman was looking pointedly up at Edgeworth while motioning to the empty space beside her on the bench.
"Sir, it's about to start. Are you staying?"
(( ;ajdb and now I'm sorry for making you wait. ; ; I hope this is alright! ))

((XD Why do the holidays have to suck so much for RPing? <333 I'm so sorry! Also, failtag is fail. Also also, here are the scripts and summaries of all the cases! The relevant one is the second case of the first game, and the fourth case of the first game is the one dealing with von Karma. I'm still waiting on whether we can use him or not. ^_^;;;
Also also also, did you want to start the gift RL, or should I?))

(( Don't worry, my reply is probably just as bad. XD;;; And ooooh, scripts! Thank you! Stupid question is stupid, but are we playing with that case, or that other one you told you me about? One of his early ones where he got an innocent man the death sentence, I think? I kinda forgot which we agreed on, I'm sorry. ^^;
And I could start that one, if you want! :> ))

"This trial isn't being held for our entertainment."
((OOC: You know, that might be a good place to start, that way we can sort of make it up as we go. XD Edgeworth was approached by the ghost of the one but that defendant was played by Idgie in that RL so I'd rather just come up with another guy. So if you want, you can just make up a few details of a random case, and maybe include just one clue that shows Edgeworth fucked up? We can discuss it tonight if you'd rather make the case together. :3 Then after this one, we can do a short scene with Maya, then Phoenix on trial, and finally Edgeworth himself?
...Yay for plotting things out after we've already started. XD I also got permission to use dream*von Karma, so we're good to go there.))
ffffff late tag is laaaaate
"I hear they've got the best prosecutor in the state here today," she mentioned casually. "I suggest you pay close attention....it may be quite a learning experience for you."
(( Hello, totally didn't add the OOC. Hee, that sounds good by me! :D I'll have to try IMing you later just so I can work one or two things out for this part, and then yes, we can move along to the others~
And yay for dream!von Karma! \o/ ))
